Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed deep sorrow over the terrorist attacks on communities in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.
The governor, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, condemned the attacks, describing them as brutal acts carried out by criminal terrorists.
He stated that the incident resulted in the killing of several people, the abduction of others, and the destruction of means of livelihood.
According to him, ”I extend my deepest sympathy to the people of the affected communities, especially the victims and their families. The victims of the attack at the Kasuwan Daji, Market, Sukumbara Village, are both Muslims and Christians drawn from different communities in Borgu local government area of the state”.
“It is disturbing and worrying to start the year with such unfortunate incidents. However, we enjoin the people to remain resolute in God and my administration is collaborating with the federal government and security agencies to improve the security of the affected areas,” the statement further stated.
He further revealed that a combined security team is currently pursuing the terrorists in an effort to rescue those abducted.
The governor also prayed that God would grant eternal rest to those who lost their lives, secure the release of the kidnapped victims, provide healing for the injured, and restore the livelihoods that were destroyed.
