Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have intensified their offensive against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, killing 11 fighters in separate operations across Borno and Adamawa States.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for OPHK, the first encounter took place on Monday, at about 8:00 a.m. when troops of Sector 3 on a patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa route in Kukawa Local Government Area came under ambush.
“Terrorists detonated a command improvised explosive device and opened fire on the patrol team,” Uba said.
“The troops stood their ground and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat before reinforcements arrived,” he added.
Eight terrorists were confirmed killed in the clash, including two Munzirs and one Qaid identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota.
Items recovered included 14 motorcycles, AK-47 rifles with magazines, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, anti-aircraft links, drugs, blankets, and other sundry items.
Two gun trucks abandoned by the terrorists were destroyed by the Air Component of OPHK following precision strikes supported by the MNJTF ISR platform.
No casualties were recorded among the troops.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops of Sector 1, supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, launched an offensive at Umbo in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Three terrorists were neutralized, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
Troops recovered AK-47 rifles, several rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a mobile phone from the scene.
Uba confirmed that there were no casualties on the part of the troops.
The Military High Command commended the soldiers’ resilience and urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to support counter-terrorism operations in the region.
