Troops of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have foiled a planned attack by suspected terrorists in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation followed a distress call at about 11:20 a.m. on August 9, reporting the gathering of suspected terrorists around Kaddanya village in the area.
According to a security report, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda quickly responded to the distress call and mobilised to the location.
The troops, working with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force from Kankia and Charanchi and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), successfully foiled the planned attack.
Following the operation, the troops conducted aggressive patrols and took control of the surrounding areas to prevent the suspected terrorists from carrying out further attacks.
The operation was aimed at denying the suspected terrorists freedom of movement and action within the area.
