Nigeria's President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that his administration will empower at least 1,000 people in each of Nigeria’s 8,809 wards in 2026.

The initiative, under the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, aims to bring 10 million Nigerians into productive economic activity through agriculture, trade, food processing, and mining.

Tinubu described the programme as a key step to deepen inclusive growth and improve living standards nationwide.

Economic progress, infrastructure, and security

Tinubu said Nigeria’s economy grew steadily in 2025, with annual GDP growth expected to exceed 4%, inflation below 15%, and foreign reserves at $45.4bn.

He highlighted gains in the stock market and rising foreign investment. The President also emphasized continued investment in roads, power, ports, railways, healthcare, and education, while stressing that peace and security remain essential for sustained development. He called on Nigerians to embrace shared responsibility in nation-building.
