The Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which succeeds the 2022 edition hosted in Tunisia, is scheduled to run from Wednesday through Friday in Yokohama.

“The conference, themed: “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” will focus on accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through private investment, innovation, and stronger institutions.“

“The President is scheduled to attend plenary sessions, hold bilateral talks with world leaders, and engage Japanese business executives, including companies with existing or potential investments in Nigeria.“

TICAD, which was first introduced by the Japanese government in 1993, is jointly organized with the United Nations, the UN Development Programme, the African Union Commission (AUC), and the World Bank.

The summit is convened every three years, alternating its venue between Japan and African nations, as a platform for dialogue and partnership on Africa’s growth and development.

After the conclusion of TICAD9, President Bola Tinubu will travel to Brazil for a state visit from August 24 to 25 at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

According to The Nation, his engagements in Brazil will include bilateral discussions with his host, participation in a Nigeria–Brazil Business Forum and the signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening economic cooperation.
