The member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has completed a two-day intensive hairdressing training programme for selected beneficiaries from across the constituency.
The programme, designed to encourage self-reliance and economic empowerment, provided participants with contemporary hairdressing skills, professional tools and equipment, alongside start-up capital to help them establish and maintain their businesses.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) and Mai Concepts Technology.
Speaking on the initiative, Shagaya reiterated his commitment to empowering women, men and youths across Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency through practical skills and resources that can improve their livelihoods and reduce dependence.
He said his office would continue supporting programmes centred on human capital development, economic independence and sustainable livelihoods for constituents.
According to him, the initiative supports the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the human capital development and poverty reduction efforts of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The beneficiaries thanked Shagaya for the initiative, describing the combination of training, equipment and start-up capital as an important step towards enabling them achieve economic independence.
They also praised the lawmaker for what they called his sustained commitment to youth and women empowerment, while wishing him continued success in his endeavours.
One of the participants said, “Leaders like Hon. Shagaya are rare. If we had more people like him, the world would be a better and fairer place where everyone can live with dignity and have something to fall back on, without depending on anyone for survival.”
The lawmaker assured that his office would continue prioritising initiatives that empower constituents, create opportunities and promote the socio-economic development of Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.
