The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwara State Chapter, has condemned the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government over what it described as silence and inaction following recent explosions and reports of suspected aerial objects that damaged houses, hotels, and commercial facilities in Offa township.

The party expressed sympathy with residents of Offa, including the Oloffa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye I, as well as affected communities, business owners, and private residents in areas where the impact was recorded.

In a statement released in Ilorin, December 26, 2025, and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the PDP faulted the state government for failing to provide leadership at a critical moment.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwara State Chapter, condemns in the strongest terms the disgraceful silence of the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led APC government following the frightening explosions and reports of suspected aerial objects which damaged houses, hotels, and commercial facilities across Offa township.”

According to the party, the absence of the governor and senior government officials during the incident worsened fear and uncertainty among residents.

“As at this moment, there has been no official explanation, no security briefing, no government presence at the scene, and no word of reassurance to the traumatized people of Offa and other Kwarans gripped by fear and uncertainty. This dangerous vacuum of leadership has fueled panic, rumours, and widespread anxiety among innocent citizens.”

The PDP said that under responsible leadership, the governor ought to have visited the affected area promptly to assess the situation and brief the public on developments.

“Under any responsible leadership, a Governor would have immediately visited the affected area to conduct a first-hand assessment and clearly brief the public on what occurred. Sadly, in Kwara today, citizens are abandoned to social media speculation because their government has failed in its most basic duty of providing leadership in times of crisis.”

The opposition party further listed what it described as unacceptable lapses by the state government.

“The Kwara PDP finds it completely unacceptable that: The Governor has not addressed the people,No state or local government official has visited Offa to identify with the victims, and

Security agencies have failed to properly brief the public.”

Describing the situation as insensitive governance, particularly during the festive period, the party urged Governor Abdulrazaq to act swiftly.

“We therefore call on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to immediately return from his Abuja stay and pay an urgent visit to Offa to assess the damage and support affected residents. The Governor must also brief the people of Kwara on the true situation in Offa and convene a joint security clarification to put an end to the growing panic.”

The PDP stressed that residents of Offa deserve reassurance and protection, not silence, at a time of crisis.

“At this difficult moment , the people of Offa deserve protection, truth, and leadership, not silence and absentee governance.”
