Nigeria and France have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, agreeing to pursue deeper cooperation for mutual prosperity and stability.

The agreement was reached during a working lunch at the Élysée Palace, attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

The Nation reported that both leaders discussed key areas of collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to stronger ties.

Tinubu, currently on a 10-day working visit to Europe, disclosed the outcome of the meeting through his verified X handle, @officialABAT.

He wrote: “Had a productive lunch with President Emmanuel Macron today(yesterday) at the Élysée Palace. We reviewed key areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France and agreed to deepen our partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability.”

As reported by The Nation, the meeting reflects Tinubu’s ongoing diplomatic efforts during his time outside Abuja, with particular focus on reinforcing Nigeria’s strategic ties with France, a long-standing partner in trade, security, and development.

Discussions at the Élysée Palace added to the growing list of high-level engagements between the two countries, which in recent years have widened cooperation in energy, counterterrorism, climate action, and investment promotion.
