Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, a former close associate of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and an influential figure in Kano State politics, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His defection marks a major boost for the ruling party as it gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Dangwani’s announcement was made during a defection ceremony that also saw dozens of ex-members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declare their loyalty to the APC.

The event was presided over by Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, and attended by key stakeholders of the party.

Speaking at the event, Dangwani, who was once a trusted confidant of Kwankwaso within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), praised the APC’s leadership at both the state and national levels.

He pledged to work with other party leaders to secure victory in the coming elections.

“We will collaborate with APC leaders across the board to ensure the party’s victory come 2027,” he said, noting that their decision to switch allegiance was driven by a desire to work with a party capable of fulfilling its promises to Nigerians.

Dangwani’s defection comes at a time when the APC is attracting top political figures, especially in Kano—considered a crucial battleground in Nigerian politics.

His move is seen as a strategic gain for the party as it consolidates its presence ahead of the next polls.

Welcoming the new members, APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas assured them of equal opportunities and a fair playing ground as the party intensifies grassroots mobilization efforts.
