The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed May 14, 2026, for the takeoff of the first batch of pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The Director General of the board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made this known during the closing ceremony of the Hajj Induction Course held at the School for Arabic Studies in Kano.

He explained that the date aligns with the official timetable issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, noting that Max Air has been appointed as the designated carrier for Kano pilgrims.

Matawalle added that the board has completed all required preparations to guarantee a smooth and trouble-free airlift of intending pilgrims.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Yusuf Lawan, called on intending pilgrims to keep revising their induction materials to deepen their understanding of Hajj rites.

He further urged them to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations guiding the pilgrimage as stipulated by Nigerian and Saudi Arabian authorities.

Officials from key agencies and service providers involved in the exercise, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Hajj Tribunal, National Orientation Agency, Max Air, and Hisbah Corps Kano State, also presented goodwill messages at the event.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a seamless Hajj operation for all pilgrims from the state.
