The Kano State Film and Censorship Board has closed a playground at the Kano Zoo following a dance performance it described as indecent and offensive to Hausa cultural values.

The closure was enforced by a monitoring committee led by the Director of Culture, Abubakar Zakari Garun Babba, under the directive of the board’s chairman, Abba El-Mustapha.

The operation followed Sallah celebrations and aimed to ensure entertainment venues upheld moral standards.

According to the board, a man and a woman were seen dancing in a way that violated public decency. The Hisbah Board, which had undercover officers at the zoo, alerted the censorship board.

The board confiscated the equipment used at the playground. The woman involved was arrested by Hisbah, while the man is reportedly on the run.

Chairman El-Mustapha thanked Kano residents and the Hisbah, police, and DSS for their continued support in promoting morality.
