The Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board says it plans to immunize more than three million women and children against deadly diseases under the second phase of the 2025 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week and Sub-National Immunization.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Bello Yusuf Jamo, represented by the Director of Disease Prevention, Hamza Ibrahim Ikara disclosed this ,while flagging off the second phase of the 2025 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week and Sub-National Immunization in Kaduna, said the exercise would provide essential vaccines and supplements to boost healthy living.
“Our targeted population will receive immunization and necessary supplements for healthy living,” he said.
“We urge parents, guardians and caregivers to present themselves and their children to benefit from free, safe and effective drugs, including other health services.”
Earlier in an address, the deputy Governor Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Aisha Abubakar Sadiq, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services.
While confirming the renovation of secondary and primary health centers to ensure conducive environment for service delivery, the Deputy Governor equally said a good number of health workers have been recruited to close man power gaps in the health sector.
“Government remains determined to enhance healthcare delivery across Kaduna State,” she said.
“We have renovated several primary and secondary health centres to ensure a conducive environment for service delivery, and we have recruited a good number of health workers to bridge manpower gaps.”
In separate submissions, representatives of UNICEF and WHO, Chinwe Ezefe and Dr. Furera Zakari, pledged sustained partnership to boost health outcomes in the state.
The event drew traditional and religious leaders, polio survivors, youth groups and women’s organisations.
