The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi A. Shaibu, has returned to Maiduguri on an operational visit to assess security operations and engage with troops in the North East.

General Shaibu previously served as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, where he oversaw major military operations against insurgents in the region.

He arrived at the Maiduguri Air Force Base on Wednesday and was received by senior military officers, including the current Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai.

During the visit, he is expected to commission completed projects, receive briefings from sector commanders, and address troops on the front lines.

Military officials said the Army Chief’s experience in the region gives him a clear understanding of the operational challenges and needs of troops.

“The Army Chief is not new to the environment. His familiarity with the terrain and the operation will help strengthen strategies,” a senior officer said.

General Shaibu’s return to Maiduguri reflects the Nigerian Army’s renewed focus on troop welfare, operational coordination, and sustaining peace across the North East.
