A Kaduna State Magistrate’s Court sitting near the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) Junction has ordered the remand of 24 persons in a correctional facility in connection with the death of a woman in the state.

The defendants were brought before the court by the Kaduna State Police Command over the brutal killing of the woman by a mob in Maraban Jos, Kaduna.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed that the accused persons are being prosecuted on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, incitement of public unrest, mischief, damage to public and police property, as well as culpable homicide.

He explained that the arraignment came after an extensive investigation into the June 21, 2026, incident in which the victim was allegedly killed after being taken from police custody.

He further stated that the matter was mentioned before the court and adjourned to July 21, 2026, for continued hearing, while the suspects were remanded in a correctional facility pending the outcome of the case.

Hassan said that “over 100 additional suspects remain under investigation for their alleged roles in the incident. Those found culpable will also be arraigned in court.”
