Ten individuals abducted by bandits in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State have been released following a locally brokered peace agreement.
The release, reportedly achieved without the payment of ransom, was facilitated by the council chairman, Hon. Muntari Abdullahi City, who led a delegation to the bandits’ hideout.
According to a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the release forms part of ongoing grassroots efforts to negotiate peace with bandit groups operating in the area.
Photographs attached to the post reportedly show the council chairman riding a motorcycle alongside some of the bandits during the negotiation exercise.
