The Kaduna State Government has formally launched the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRING) Programme, a major initiative aimed at deepening peacebuilding efforts and enhancing community stability across the state.

The launch brought together government officials, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, and representatives of international development partners.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Mukhtar Ahmad Monrovia, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining peace across communities.

The Director General of the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Agency and SPRING Team Lead, Prof. Ukoha Ukiwo, also attended alongside the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, the Commissioner for Sports, and other members of the State Executive Council.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Sule Shuaibu, praised the British High Commission for its ongoing support.

“The British High Commission has remained a reliable partner in our efforts to strengthen peace and security in Kaduna State,” he said.

Dr. Shuaibu also noted the dedication of local stakeholders who have consistently contributed to improving the state’s peace architecture.

Highlighting recent gains, Dr. Shuaibu referenced a SPRING–Tetratech capacity building programme, where 40 personnel from security and peace institutions in Kaduna were trained.

“The participants have acquired enhanced skills in community engagement, conflict prevention, and collaborative problem solving—skills that will contribute directly to long-term peace and stability,” he added.

Dr. Shuaibu emphasized that the initiative aligns with the state government’s non-kinetic peace model and ongoing efforts to restore livelihoods and economic activity in recovering communities.

The Kaduna State Government reiterated its full readiness to support and implement the SPRING Programme, deepen partnerships, and promote a safer, more united state.
