Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Saturday consoled soldiers of the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa during his tour of southern Borno, following a recent assault that claimed the lives of several personnel.
The governor reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting them in the ongoing campaign against Boko Haram and ISWAP militants.
He was at the frontline outpost to sympathize with the officers and soldiers after the tragic incident that resulted in multiple casualties.
Zulum acknowledged their daily commitment and the risks they take to safeguard the people of Borno.
“We are here in Damboa to commiserate with you over the recent setback which claimed the lives of some of your colleagues,” Zulum said.
He offered condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and prayed for quick healing for those injured.
“For those of you who are alive and healthy, we pray that God will protect you and give you strength to carry out your duties,” he said.
The governor applauded the troops for their resilience and assured them that the government and citizens remain firmly behind them.
“We will do everything possible within available resources to support your mission to end the crisis,” Zulum added.
Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omokeh, commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade, received the governor upon arrival.
The engagement was part of Zulum’s wider tour of communities across southern Borno.
Earlier, he visited Chibok to console households affected by recent violent attacks and destruction of property.
He pledged stronger measures to enhance security and shield vulnerable settlements.
“We offer our condolences over what happened in Chibok. The situation is painful,” Zulum said.
He assured locals that steps are being taken, in collaboration with the federal government and security agencies, to avert more attacks.
“We will provide a permanent solution and end it. Please be patient,” he told the community.
