Katsina State Police Commissioner, CP Bello Shehu, has ordered full deployment of the command’s School Protection Squad to safeguard students and schools across the state.
The move comes after a strategy meeting with top officers and follows the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s instruction to boost school security nationwide.
This is according to a statement signed by DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police during the weekend.
The command said more officers will be sent to vulnerable areas, patrols around schools will increase, and intelligence-sharing among security agencies will be strengthened.
CP Shehu said the action is “preventive and strategic” and stressed that keeping students safe “remains a top priority.”

He called on residents to work closely with the police, saying community support is key to stopping crime.
“We are committed to ensuring that every school in Katsina is protected. Security is a collective responsibility, and we urge the public to continue supporting our efforts,” he said.
The police urged citizens to report any suspicious movement or threats through these emergency numbers: 08159677777, 07072722539, 09022209690.
