A grave in Jakusko Town has been found opened with the corpse removed by unknown individuals.

In a statement on Friday, the police public relations officer of the Yobe Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the incident was reported on 13 November 2025 at about 11:00 a.m.

He said the report was made by one Wakili Gambo, who informed the Police that the grave was discovered disturbed at the Makwalla area cemetery.

A team of Policemen from the Jakusko Division, working with community leaders, visited the scene and confirmed that the grave had been desecrated and the remains taken away.

The Command has begun an investigation and is checking other graves within the cemetery to determine whether more sites were affected.

The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, CP Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act and described it as “a serious violation of human dignity and the sanctity of the dead.”

He warned that anyone found responsible “will face the full wrath of the law.”

The Command urged the community to improve cemetery security, provide credible information to support the investigation, and report any suspicious movements around burial sites.
