Bauchi State chapter of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has raised serious concern over the growing wave of corruption across all sectors, warning that it poses a grave threat to national unity and security.
The position was contained in a communiqué issued after a leadership training workshop organised by the National Islamic Centre, Zaria (The Muslim Ummah), for MSSN Bauchi Area Unit leaders. The event took place at the Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar Hajj Camp in Bauchi.
The Muslim Ummah emphasised that piety (Taqwa) remains essential for genuine leadership and sustainable national progress. It also noted the worsening poverty and economic hardship in the country, urging the government to implement practical measures to alleviate citizens’ suffering.
On the issue of insecurity, the communiqué condemned the continued cases of banditry and kidnappings, calling on security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts toward restoring peace and safeguarding lives.
The group expressed solidarity with the Federal Government’s support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Zionist forces from Gaza. It also criticised U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to label Hamas as a terrorist organisation, describing the idea as unjust and counterproductive to peace efforts.
Signed by the Chairman of the Communiqué Drafting Committee, Prof. Abdullahi Lare Amaoo, the statement reaffirmed the Muslim Ummah’s commitment to spiritual, moral, and socio-economic advancement.
In his remarks, the National Ameer, Prof. Muhammad Babangida, reiterated the organisation’s vision, while Dr. Usman Bugaje called for urgent reforms to address leadership gaps within the Ummah.
The workshop concluded with the inauguration of new leadership structures across the 20 local government areas and elections for state-level offices.
A total of 345 participants attended, including delegates from Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Plateau, and Jigawa States, as well as representatives of 14 other Islamic organisations.
