The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, has unveiled a new lecture series in collaboration with top tertiary institutions across the nation, scheduled to run over the next three years.

According to a statement issued by the CBN on Tuesday, “This initiative is designed to be a platform for thought-leadership discourse on national economic development.”

The apex bank said the project is a key part of its strategy to broaden public understanding and enhance the effectiveness of monetary policy.

Cardoso is set to deliver the opening lecture at Lagos Business School on Friday, October 3, 2025. The lecture, titled Next Generation Leadership in Monetary Policy and Nation Building, will serve a dual role.

The CBN explained that the first edition will also mark the second anniversary of “Team Cardoso’s” administration at the institution, which has been characterized by renewed emphasis on price stability, institutional openness, and aligning monetary policy with the daily realities of Nigerians.

The Bank added that the lecture series also “aims to foster dialogue, promote innovation, and advance an inclusive financial system that works for all Nigerians, while positioning the country as a leader on both the African and global stages.”

Since taking office in September 2023, Cardoso has consistently shown that the Bank’s primary mission ensuring price stability is critical to achieving sustainable economic growth and protecting citizens’ welfare. He had earlier stressed the importance of adaptive policies in a rapidly changing environment.

“Nigeria is at a pivotal moment, where technology, global financial realignments, and the energy of its youthful population are reshaping its economic future. Innovation must be harnessed intentionally and confidently, particularly by institutions like the CBN,” Cardoso noted in a previous engagement.

The inaugural event is expected to attract an influential audience, including top government officials, industry executives, scholars, and students, underscoring the importance of monetary policy in sustaining stability, growth, and national progress.
