Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has on Tuesday commissioned 47 brand-new four-wheel drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles to strengthen security operations across Yobe State.
The commissioning ceremony took place at the Government House in Damaturu and was attended by top government officials, security chiefs, and community leaders.
Governor Buni said the intervention demonstrates his administration’s commitment to sustaining the peace and security enjoyed in the state.
He explained that the vehicles and motorcycles will boost mobility and operational efficiency, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
“The purpose of today’s occasion is to step up government’s efforts towards supporting security agencies to enable them carry out their duties more efficiently,” Buni stated.
“We are committed to providing every necessary support to our security forces to ensure the safety of lives and properties,” he added.
The governor praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for aligning national priorities with state efforts to secure Yobe.
He also commended security forces, vigilante groups, and hunters for their courage and sacrifices in protecting lives and communities.
To ensure proper maintenance, Buni directed all local government chairmen to take responsibility for the vehicles allocated to police in their areas.
Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), described the intervention as a “force multiplier” that would improve response time and widen coverage.
He noted that the gesture would significantly raise the morale of officers and men in the fight against insecurity.
The vehicles and motorcycles will be deployed immediately to different security formations across the state.
