The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with the Department of State Services (DSS) to tackle insecurity challenges in the state.
This followed a courtesy visit by the new State Director of Security, Nafiu Tukur Bello, to the NSCDC command headquarters in Gusau on Wednesday.
Mr. Bello, who recently assumed duty in Zamfara, said the visit was part of his efforts to familiarize himself with key security stakeholders and to strengthen existing partnerships.
“Traditionally, it is necessary to visit all relevant stakeholders to establish a cordial workspace where ideas and intelligence can be shared for the improvement of security in the state,” he explained.
He noted that the DSS and NSCDC have long been “synonymous partners” in the fight against insecurity, adding that he looked forward to sustaining the collaboration enjoyed by his predecessors.
In his response, the Zamfara State Commandant of NSCDC, Sani Mustapha, assured the DSS of uninterrupted synergy between the two agencies.
He emphasized the need to refine security strategies in order to effectively address banditry and other criminal activities threatening the peace of Zamfara.
Mr. Mustapha described the DSS as a reliable and professional ally, stressing that only through joint efforts could the state be rescued from the grip of insecurity.
The visit is seen as part of renewed efforts by security agencies to coordinate operations and intelligence-sharing in order to restore peace and stability across Zamfara State.
