Hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have killed a notorious bandit leader known as Kachalla Sani Yellow during a gun battle in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The clash happened after the local security volunteers repelled an attack by suspected bandits.
Kachalla Sani Yellow was regarded as one of the most powerful bandit commanders operating in Anka, Bukkuyum and Maru local government areas of Zamfara State.
He was also accused of taking part in coordinated attacks on communities across Nigeria’s North-West.
The spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the killing.
Photos and videos said to show the bandit leader’s body were later shared widely on social media, with the remains appearing to have been mutilated.
