The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially sworn in retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ibrahim Umaru as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services.
The ceremony took place at the commencement of the 28th executive council meeting held at Kwankwasiyya City.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State on Monday.
Governor Yusuf said AVM Umaru’s appointment was strictly on merit, citing his long-standing experience in managing sensitive security operations and his distinguished career in the Nigerian Air Force.
“AVM Ibrahim’s disciplined and distinguished military service makes him the right person to lead our internal security efforts,” the governor noted.
He further charged the new commissioner to bring his experience to bear in improving security across the state and rebuilding public confidence in government-led safety initiatives.
“We pray Allah guides him in this new role and grants him the wisdom to protect lives and property across Kano State,” the governor added.
Before his appointment, AVM Umaru served as the Director-General of the Special Services Directorate at the Kano State Government House.
He is a retired officer of the Nigerian Air Force with notable credentials in peacekeeping operations and national security assignments both locally and internationally.
As Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, he is expected to coordinate the activities of security agencies and engage with local communities to ensure a safer and more secure Kano.
