The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabiu, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.

Rabiu announced the decision in a letter dated January 25, 2026, which was addressed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, formally informing the state government of his decision to step down from office.

In the letter, the former director general explained that his resignation followed careful reflection, noting that changing political developments within the party had made it necessary for him to redirect his focus and political engagements.

According to him, the move was driven by his continued allegiance to the Kwankwasiyya movement and its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“As a devoted member of the Kwankwasiyya movement, I remain unwaveringly loyal to our leader and dedicated to the principles and objectives that guide our political movement,” he said.

Rabiu added that leaving the position would allow him to fully align with what he described as the strategic political direction required at this time, while also helping to maintain unity within the party.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for entrusting him with the leadership of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, describing his period in office as both an honour and a privilege.

“I am proud of the progress we have made in advancing the welfare of our pilgrims and strengthening the Board’s operational effectiveness,” he stated.

The former director general further thanked members of the board and staff of the agency for their cooperation and support during his tenure, while offering prayers for the continued development of Kano State.
