Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has declared his resolve to work with like-minded Nigerians to end what he called the “era of misrule” in the country.
He said his stance was in line with public opinion and reflected his commitment to repositioning Nigeria and correcting its wrongs.
“I remain one person who believes in democracy and good governance,” Tambuwal stated.
Coalition formed after wide consultations
Tambuwal explained that the coalition he joined emerged after consultations with professionals, political figures, and other stakeholders, all determined to chart a better course for the nation.
“We came together based on our shared belief in what is good for Nigeria, working strictly within democratic principles and processes to flush out the Tinubu-led APC government,” he said.
He spoke in Sokoto shortly after arriving at his residence on Kontagora Road, following his release on bail from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he was greeted by jubilant supporters.
Tambuwal blasts Tinubu’s administration
Tambuwal accused President Tinubu’s government of lacking compassion, sympathy, and concern for citizens, alleging it had plunged Nigerians into insecurity, poverty, and social underdevelopment.
“There is no going back on my journey with like minds to salvage the country from the woes of the APC-led government,” he vowed.
The former governor, now a serving senator, stressed that the coalition movement was designed to restore accountability and good governance, insisting Nigerians still believe in the democratic process to change leadership.
Allegations of intimidation against coalition
According to Tambuwal, some forces were unsettled by the coalition’s progress and had resorted to intimidation.
“These are the things the current government of Tinubu cannot handle. They are confused and dumbfounded. Before the 2023 elections, we warned Nigerians not to vote for Tinubu, and today, here we are,” he said.
He further criticised the president’s policies, calling them anti-people and devoid of humane consideration.
Tambuwal calls for fairness and equitable governance
Tambuwal alleged that the 2023 election was rigged and that the federal character principle and equitable distribution of national projects had been undermined.
He lamented worsening insecurity, poverty, and other social ills across all six geopolitical zones.
The senator expressed gratitude to his supporters in Sokoto and nationwide for their steadfastness, prayers, and resilience in backing the coalition’s mission.
