Several passengers have been reported injured after an Abuja-bound train en route to Kaduna derailed on Monday following a collision.

Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the incident to media reports on Monday. According to him, the train encountered an accident near Asham.

He explained that no fatalities had been recorded while filing the report; however, the injured passengers were brought back to Idu train station to receive necessary medical attention.

Opeifa added that the NRC is conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

“It is confirmed that our Abuja-Kaduna train had an incident at Asham. Passengers were injured while an investigation is ongoing into the exact cause of the incident,” he told media reports.
