The Mohammed Bello Leadership Academy (MBLA) has been officially introduced to the public, with a mission to nurture a new generation of ethical, visionary and community-driven leaders across Nigeria and beyond.
The organisers said the initiative is built on the belief that leadership goes beyond holding positions, describing it as a responsibility to serve, inspire and transform society.
According to a statement signed by Mallam Buhari Abubaka, the academy is committed to promoting excellence, integrity and innovation while equipping young people with the skills and knowledge required to lead effectively in a complex and rapidly changing world.
The academy plans to roll out a variety of programmes, including leadership training, mentorship schemes, civic education, policy engagement and capacity-building workshops.
These initiatives, it said, are designed to strengthen participants’ critical thinking, emotional intelligence and understanding of governance and social responsibility.
Speaking on the launch, the academy’s leadership stressed that the initiative aims to address the leadership gap in the country by promoting accountability, inclusiveness and a culture of service among young people.
“We envision a society where young people are not only heard but actively shape policies, drive innovation and contribute meaningfully to national development,” the statement said.
The academy also disclosed plans to partner with government institutions, civil society groups, educational bodies and development organisations to expand its reach, particularly in underserved communities.
The organisers expressed optimism that the initiative would help tackle Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges by producing leaders capable of driving sustainable development, fostering unity and upholding high ethical standards.
Members of the public, stakeholders and aspiring young leaders have been encouraged to engage with the academy and participate in its programmes as it begins operations.
