Muhammad Garba, the ex-spokesman for the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has strongly rejected allegations of corruption against his principal, describing them as false and politically motivated.

Garba, who once served as Kano State Commissioner for Information, issued a statement on Monday night where he expressed worry over what he called “a deliberate attempt by the Kano State Government to link Ganduje to financial misappropriation, corruption, and misconduct.”

The comments came after Governor Abba Yusuf accused Ganduje of spending more than N20bn from the state treasury through the Directorate of Protocol within three months, between February and May 2023, shortly after the APC lost power to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

‘Ganduje governed with transparency’ Garba

Garba insisted that Ganduje’s administration was run with integrity and accountability, stressing that, “Governor Ganduje completed his tenure with diligence and transparency.”

According to him, the former governor focused on development and proper management of state resources throughout his time in office.

He further dismissed references to alleged scandals, saying they were “false and politically charged,” designed to weaken Ganduje’s record.

Allegations are misinformation – spokesman

Garba defended Ganduje’s long service to Kano, insisting that “these narratives are acts of misinformation aimed at distracting the public from real governance issues.”

He explained that all financial activities carried out by the Directorate of Protocol were legal and budget-approved, adding:

“Any attempt to suggest otherwise distorts the facts and misrepresents the nature of governance under Ganduje.”

On allegations of land grabbing, Garba argued that Ganduje’s administration actually strengthened systems to protect public assets and enforce lawful land management.

‘Stop dragging Ganduje’s name’ Ex-commissioner

Recalling the achievements of the former governor, Garba said his administration left behind enduring programmes and structures for the state.

He added:

“Any attempt to associate Ganduje with the misdeeds of the current administration is baseless and politically motivated.”

He therefore urged the public, politicians, and the media to avoid using Ganduje’s name for propaganda or attacks.

“If there are genuine concerns, there are proper legal channels to address them. Dragging a former leader’s name into these narratives is unjust,” Garba concluded.
