The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has officially welcomed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairman in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Sadiq Abubakar, who has announced his move to the ruling party.

The confirmation came through a statement released on Monday in Gusau by the APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.

Idris hailed Abubakar’s defection as a “welcome development,” saying it demonstrated the increasing influence and acceptance of the APC across the state.

Abubakar had, on Sunday, announced his withdrawal from the PDP in Kaura Namoda, declaring the party “dead in Zamfara” and weakened by “serious crises at the national level.”

He was received at the APC Secretariat in Kaura Namoda by former state APC Chairman, Lawal Liman, and the Kaura Namoda APC Chairman, Alhaji Sule Gabake.

Liman pledged equal treatment for the defectors, emphasising that the APC in Zamfara, led by Senator AbdulAziz Yari and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, remained dedicated to unity, stability, and the collective advancement of the party.
