The Borno State Police Command has intensified efforts to curb social vices across Maiduguri and its environs.
In a statement on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) – Anti-Social Vices Team carried out coordinated raids on November 11 and 12, 2025.
The operations were conducted in Baga Road, Kasuwan Shanu, Ngomari, Galadimawa, Ajari-Cross, Ummarari, and Bulumkutu Yan Nono areas.
During the raids, forty-three suspects were arrested for alleged involvement in the sale and distribution of banned substances, public nuisance, and possession of dangerous weapons.
Items recovered included fifty-seven wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, twenty-two pieces of D5 tablets, thirty-six Ezol tablets, two knives, one rubber of “Suck and Die,” and one hundred and eighty-three wraps of unidentified dried leaves locally known as “Scon/Colorado.”
According to the police, all suspects and exhibits are in custody undergoing investigation, and they will be charged to court after the process is completed.
Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the operatives for their proactive work and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining operations aimed at sanitizing the state.
He also urged residents to continue providing credible information that would help the police in ensuring a safer and more peaceful Borno State.
