A horrific incident has left the Jiddari Polo community in shock after a 17-year-old girl, Fatima Talba, was allegedly attacked by her stepmother.
The stepmother is accused of pouring hot cooking oil on Fatima’s face, leaving her with severe burns.
According to a source, the attack occurred on Saturday following an altercation between Fatima and her stepmother.
The source added that Fatima had recently been staying with her father in preparation for her marriage, which was scheduled to take place two weeks after Ramadan.
Fatima was rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where she is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Her condition is critical, with her face reportedly completely burned.
“The stepmother has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force and is currently in custody,” the source said.
The incident has sparked outrage within the community, with many calling for swift justice and stronger action against domestic violence.
Community members have also rallied around Fatima, praying for her recovery and urging authorities to ensure she receives justice.
