Mrs Titi Abubakar, wife of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said her husband is not seeking Nigerians’ wealth but wants to contribute to society if elected president in 2027.

Titi made the statement while campaigning for the former Vice-President at a rally in a video shared by TV Platinum on its X page on Friday.

She described Atiku as an experienced politician and philanthropist who, if elected, would already understand the demands of the presidency rather than having to learn them while in office.

“Atiku is a sellable material. That is why I’m so proud of my husband. Atiku is a philanthropist. Atiku has done it before. Atiku is not going to learn on the job, and Atiku is not a novice,” she said.

She said Atiku would draw on his political experience to mentor Nigerians and groom a successor who could assume office after his tenure.

“Atiku wants to tutor you, children, how politics is being made Nigerians will be yearning for Atiku for a second time — that he said he was going to do just one time. But Nigerians will yearn for him and bring him, “ she said.

Titi also expressed concern over the condition of the Nigerian economy and governance, lamenting the challenges confronting citizens under the present administration.

“Now, today, we have no constitution. We have no rule of law. Nothing is working. Our economy is in shambles. And I wonder how people are living. I wonder how people are eating,” she said.

She added that Atiku would prioritise developing his deputy while in office, which could position the running mate to succeed him after his tenure.

“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to this table, I told you, people will yearn that Atiku should continue and do a second time. By then, he will have tutored his deputy. Maybe the deputy will take over from him,” she said.
