The Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has shut down two private health training institutions operating unlawfully within Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The affected institutions are IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology, located at Dakata Kawaji adjacent to Juma’at Mosque, and Life Line College of Health Science and Technology, situated at Dakata Industrial Area, Bela Road, Tsamiyar Gare, along Mai Sikeli Street.
The shutdown followed a thorough assessment carried out by the Ministry of Health, revealing that both institutions failed to satisfy minimum requirements and standards set for establishing and operating health training institutions in Kano State strictly by regulations.
According to the Ministry, the institutions operated without proper verification and approval from the Kano State Ministry of Health and also lacked accreditation from relevant professional and regulatory bodies responsible for overseeing health education and training in Nigeria system.
Investigations further revealed major deficiencies including insufficient qualified teaching staff, poor learning facilities, inadequate infrastructure, and failure to comply with established educational and operational standards required for effective health manpower development.
The Ministry observed poor compliance with professional ethics, regulatory guidelines, and other mandatory requirements designed to safeguard healthcare education quality and ensure competence of future healthcare professionals in Nigeria system.
Speaking on the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health restated its commitment to safeguarding students, parents, and the general public from institutions that undermine educational quality and professional standards.
The Ministry emphasized that training of healthcare workers must be carried out only in institutions that meet approved standards and regulatory requirements.
The Government therefore warns proprietors of health training institutions across the state to strictly comply with all legal and regulatory provisions governing their operations.
The closure of non-compliant institutions remains a necessary step towards ensuring quality healthcare education, protecting the interests of students, and maintaining excellence in healthcare service delivery throughout Kano State.
