The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, warning that no nation can make real progress without peace and stability.
Drawing from his military background, the revered monarch described the situation as “critical” and emphasized the urgent need for a proactive approach.
Monarch demands modern tools for security agencies
He urged the federal government to equip security agencies with cutting-edge technology, tools, and logistics to better confront the rising wave of criminal activities across the country.
“No matter the wealth of a nation, it cannot be enjoyed without security,” he noted.
NSCDC chief visits Sultan’s palace
The Sultan made this call during a visit by the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, at his palace in Sokoto.
The NSCDC boss said the visit was part of a nationwide tour to evaluate formations, understand operational challenges, and build collaborative frameworks.
Support for community-based security efforts
Dr. Audi acknowledged the Sultan’s longstanding support for security agencies and appealed for continued collaboration, especially in community engagement and conflict resolution.
“It is our tradition to seek blessings from His Eminence before executing our duties,” he added.
