Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced plans to construct the largest inter-state bus terminal in Nigeria on a 20-hectare site along the Eastern Bypass in Chikun Local Government Area.
Performing the ground-breaking on Sunday, the governor said the ultra-modern terminal would operate as a dual facility with capacity for over 5,000 vehicles, supported by intelligent traffic management and advanced surveillance systems.
“The facility will feature escalators and elevators, ensuring accessibility for all users, including the elderly and persons with disabilities,” Sani said.
He added that the terminal would include refuelling stations for petrol, diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), as well as a three-star hotel.
“This is not merely infrastructure of concrete and steel; it is a fully integrated mobility ecosystem safe, efficient and future-ready,” the governor stated.
Describing the project as a major economic driver, Sani said it would decongest Kaduna city and create jobs.
“Thousands of direct and indirect jobs will be created, providing opportunities for drivers, artisans, traders and young entrepreneurs,” he said.
The governor noted that the project is part of wider transport reforms, adding, “With this project, we are replacing disorder with structure, vulnerability with safety and inconvenience with dignity.”
