Nigeria have secured a semi-final berth at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Super Eagles produced a commanding performance to defeat Algeria 2-0, in their quarter-final meeting on Saturday night, to seal their progress.

Eric Chelle’s side controlled the Desert Foxes for much of the first half, but could not break down the defence at the time.

The nearest Nigeria got to opening the scoring arrived when Calvin Bassey’s strike was hacked off the line.

However, in the second half, Victor Osimhen nodded home Bruno Onyemaechi’s delivery, before laying on Akor Adams for the second effort.

The three-time African champions will next face the hosts Morocco for a place in the final round.
