Members of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province have launched coordinated attacks on four communities in Borno State.

The affected communities are Mafa, Dikwa, Marte, and Ajiri.

According to a reports, the insurgents arrived in Mafa late Wednesday on more than 100 motorcycles and four gun trucks, heavily armed with sophisticated weapons.

“The attack happened around 11:40 p.m. while travelers were waiting for the gate to open in the morning”‘ a resident of Mafa told our correspondent.

“They didn’t kill anyone among the commuters, but they carted away foodstuffs and other goods being transported to Gamboru and burned an undisclosed number of vehicles,’ the source added.

Another source, who preferred not to be named, said the terrorists also attacked a nearby military barracks, though details of that assault remain unclear.

Similar attacks were reported in Marte, Dikwa, and Ajiri, with heavy gunfire and insurgent movement recorded in all four communities.

Security forces have yet to issue an official statement, and the extent of casualties or damage in the affected areas remains unknown.
