Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed several terrorist camps and repelled coordinated attacks during ongoing operations in the Timbuktu Triangle.
The operations were carried out under Operation DESERT SANITY as part of sustained efforts to degrade insurgent activities in the North East.
According to the military on Monday, the offensive took place on Sunday.
Troops advanced from their harbour areas and conducted intelligence-led ground operations across identified terrorist enclaves in Chilaria, Garin Faruk, and Abirma.
The operation was supported by the air component of Operation HADIN KAI, which provided continuous intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance coverage.
The air-ground coordination enabled real-time tracking of terrorist movements and prevented reinforcement by insurgents.
During the clearance operations, troops recovered Baofeng radios, mobile phones, five AK-47 magazines, several rounds of 7.62×39mm special ammunition, and 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition.
Other items recovered included Boko Haram and ISWAP flags, links of 12.7×108mm ammunition, diesel-powered grinding machines, medical supplies, bags of grains, a pickup truck, underground logistics storage facilities, and a petroleum and oil lubricant dump.
The military said the discoveries significantly disrupted the operational and logistical capacity of the terrorists.
At about midday, advancing troops came under armed drone attacks launched by the insurgents.
Despite the attack, troops sustained the offensive and maintained control of the area.
A second drone attack attempt in the evening was also repelled, forcing the terrorists to withdraw.
The military said troop morale remains high and combat efficiency has been sustained despite repeated engagements.
It added that the general security situation in the area is calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining a high level of alertness.
Sani Uba, lieutenant colonel and media information officer at headquarters joint task force (north east) Operation HADIN KAI, said operations would continue until all threats are eliminated.
He said the military remains committed to protecting civilians and restoring lasting peace and stability across the region.
