The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) has honoured the Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, with its prestigious Fellowship award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to infrastructure development and engineering excellence in governance.
The recognition was announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.
According to the statement, the award was presented during the Institution’s two-day Annual Conference and General Meeting held in Kano, which attracted top engineers and professionals from across the country.
NICE lauds governor’s vision for Kano’s transformation
While conferring the Fellowship, the National Chairman of NICE, Engr. Otunba Ajanaku, praised Governor Yusuf for his transformative approach to infrastructure renewal and urban development.
He described the governor as “a leader who has turned Kano into the biggest construction yard in Nigeria through people-oriented projects and visionary engineering leadership.”
Engr. Ajanaku noted that the award symbolized the Institution’s recognition of the governor’s unwavering commitment to improving public infrastructure through professionalism and innovation.
Yusuf pledges more development, transparency
In his acceptance speech, Governor Yusuf expressed deep appreciation to NICE for the honour, saying it would further strengthen his government’s resolve to maintain high engineering standards in all projects.
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing quality roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and other vital facilities that enhance the well-being of Kano citizens.
Governor Yusuf also pledged to continue collaborating with professional bodies such as NICE to promote transparency, accountability, and technical excellence in project execution across the state.
