Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed two Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) following separate findings of misconduct by investigative committees.
The decision, announced in a Saturday statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, affects Abubakar Umar Sharada, SSA on Political Mobilization, and Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, SSA in the Cabinet Office.
Drug baron bail scandal
According to the SSG, Sharada was indicted by a Special Investigative Committee as the mastermind behind the controversial bail of a notorious drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
The committee’s findings, backed by Sharada’s own testimony, confirmed his role in facilitating the release.
A dismissal letter issued on Friday directed Sharada to return all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs, Office of the SSG, by Monday, August 11, 2025, and warned him against parading himself as a public officer.
Palliative grain diversion case
Roba was removed after being arrested in 2024 for rebagging palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada.
He is currently facing charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly diverting public assets.
He has been ordered to surrender all government property, including his ID card, by the same August 11 deadline.
One official cleared
In a related development, Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, was cleared of all wrongdoing by an investigative committee and has been fully exonerated.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption, warning public officials to maintain the highest standards of integrity in both their official and personal conduct.
