Late Chief Audu Ogbeh

Former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has died at the age of 78.

In a statement issued by his family on Saturday, the veteran politician and elder statesman was said to have passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather; Chief Audu Ogbeh. He passed away at the fulfilled age of 78,” the family said.

They described him as a man who lived a life marked by integrity, service, and dedication to both the nation and his community, touching many lives through his work and example.

Funeral arrangements, the family noted, will be announced in due course, while they appealed for privacy during the mourning period.

“We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the example he set,” the statement read.

Chief Ogbeh, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later minister under President Muhammadu Buhari, was widely respected for his decades of public service.
