Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has told President Bola Tinubu to brace up for a possible exit from Aso Rock after only one term in office.
Dalung, who is a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the opposition is working to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
He stressed that Nigerians’ frustration over economic hardship, insecurity, and poor governance will tilt the country towards a new political force.
ADC positioning itself as alternative
According to the former minister, both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have failed to deliver on the people’s expectations, leaving space for other parties to gain ground.
“Tinubu may come to the conclusion that he should be preparing to return to Lagos by May 29, 2027,” Dalung said.
He insisted that the ADC is not a fringe party but a growing movement that could surprise many skeptics in 2027.
Opposition party building alliances
Dalung also dismissed Tinubu’s earlier remarks describing the ADC as a “camp for displaced politicians,” maintaining that the party is fast emerging as a strong contender.
He explained that the ADC is engaging stakeholders nationwide and will present credible candidates capable of challenging the ruling system.
Although he did not disclose specific strategies, he expressed optimism that the ADC’s coalition efforts will reshape the political landscape ahead of the elections.
