Former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has celebrated elder statesman Alhaji Tanko Yakasai as he marks his 100th birthday.

Tambuwal said millions of Nigerians at home and abroad are grateful to witness the milestone of a man he described as a “towering figure” and a “father to generations.”

He noted that Yakasai’s life represents deep wisdom and national commitment, adding that reaching a century is a privilege many do not attain.

According to him, Nigerians owe thanks to God for preserving the life of the elder statesman up to this moment.

Tambuwal described Yakasai as a man whose influence has shaped many aspects of Nigeria’s political development.

The former governor said Yakasai remains a “living archive” of Nigeria’s history.

He recalled that the statesman played key roles from the pre-independence struggle to the early days of the republic and through different periods of reform and national challenges.

Tambuwal added that Yakasai has stayed relevant and respected across several generations.

While many people live long, he said, only a few use their years to serve society the way Yakasai has done.

He described Yakasai’s life as one built on discipline, resilience, and devotion to Nigeria’s unity.

Tambuwal prays for continued blessings

As Yakasai clocks 100, Tambuwal prayed to Allah to bless him with more good health, peace, and fulfilment.

He also prayed that God rewards his sacrifices, forgives his shortcomings, and keeps his wisdom alive for future generations.

He said Yakasai’s life teaches true leadership, showing that greatness is measured by impact, not age.

Tambuwal concluded by saying Nigeria celebrates him, the North honours him, and history will always remember him.

“Happy 100th birthday Baba Alhaji Tanko Yakasai,” he added.
