Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum met with Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration with the World Bank.

The meeting, held with officials of the World Bank office in Nigeria, focused on improving the delivery and impact of key development programs in the three states.

According to Mamman Mohammed, director general, press and media affairs to the governor of Yobe, the discussion highlighted programs such as AGILE, Nigeria for Women Project, L-PRES, ACReSAL, and SOLID.

These initiatives are aimed at enhancing education, agriculture, livestock, healthcare, and economic empowerment across the region.

World Bank Country Director in Nigeria, Mathew Verghis, commended the governors for their commitment to the success of the programs.

He said the Bank is ready to continue supporting the states to achieve tangible results for the people.

Governor Zulum acknowledged the Bank’s contributions to recovery and resilience programs in Borno.

He also called for faster responses and simpler implementation procedures to improve the effectiveness of interventions.

“Our people face unique challenges,” Zulum said.

“Flexible and community-driven programs will ensure better results and ownership.”

The governors and World Bank officials agreed to work together to remove administrative bottlenecks that delay project delivery.
