Three Kebbi State senators – Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki – have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The senators, representing Kebbi Central, North, and South respectively, cited internal crises and unresolved divisions within the PDP as reasons for their exit.
Their defection letters were read during Tuesday’s plenary by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over the session.
The event was witnessed by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.
The defections were celebrated by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who said, “It shows that there will be a lot of successes and victories for the APC in the future. It is just a testimony, a kind of sign of what is going to happen…”
“I know, by the grace of God, any future election—all the future elections in the future—victory will come our way. So let me congratulate Mr. President and the party chairman, and I urge you to continue on this good work you are doing for the party and the nation at large.”
