The Kaduna State Fire Service and Public Safety recorded 50 fire outbreaks between September and November 2025, saving properties valued at N1.1bn across the state.
The Director of the agency, Mr Paul Aboi, disclosed this in Kaduna during an interview with journalists, saying the incidents were recorded in the Kaduna, Zaria and Kafanchan zones.
“Within the three-month period, the service responded to 50 fire outbreaks, which unfortunately resulted in two deaths, 19 injuries and seven rescue operations,” Aboi said.
He added that property valued at N1.1bn was saved, while losses amounted to N2.7bn, following major incidents in densely populated communities, residential areas, and business locations.
According to him, most of the fire outbreaks were traced to electrical faults, careless handling of fire, and poor storage of flammable materials, stressing that the service responded promptly to reduce casualties and damage.
“The majority of these fires were caused by electrical faults, careless handling of fire and poor storage of flammable materials,” Aboi said, stressing that timely intervention by firefighters reduced casualties and damage.
The director noted that the agency has stepped up preventive measures to curb future incidents.
“We have intensified public enlightenment, strengthened our rapid response units and expanded community sensitisation, especially as we move through the harmattan season, which is usually high-risk for fire outbreaks,” he said.
