Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has said the Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government are collaborating closely to tackle insecurity in the state.

The governor made this known on Friday afternoon while paying Sallah homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, at his palace shortly after the Eid prayers.

Governor Aliyu assured residents that his administration has consistently provided logistics and other support to conventional security agencies as well as the State Community Guard Corps to strengthen security across the state.

He therefore appealed for sustained cooperation and backing from citizens towards government and security agencies in their efforts to confront banditry across the state.

“We also need to pray fervently for Allah’s protection for our gallant security personnel deployed to volatile areas to checkmate the activities of bandits,” he added.

The governor further reassured residents of the state that his administration will continue to maintain an open-door policy to address the needs and expectations of the people.

Governor Aliyu also urged Islamic scholars (Ulama) to intensify prayers for lasting peace and harmonious coexistence in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

He expressed appreciation to Muslim clerics who conducted various Tafseer sessions during the Ramadan period, guiding Muslims on the teachings of the glorious Qur’an.

He also advised preachers to continue emphasizing the core teachings of Islam, particularly the Five Pillars of Islam, so that Muslims can properly understand how to worship Almighty Allah.

Responding, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for the many people-focused projects his administration is implementing across the state.

“Your Excellency, do not relent in what you are doing for our state. The Sultanate Council is behind you,” he said.

The Sultan also praised the efforts of security agencies in the state for safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, urging them to maintain the momentum.

He further appealed to Nigerians to continue praying for the nation’s leaders for Allah’s guidance at all times.

The Sultan also urged residents of the state to continue supporting the present administration in its drive to develop the state.

The Sultan later hosted the governor and members of his delegation to a lunch.
