Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has indicated that he may run for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.
The governor revealed this during a visit by members of the state executive council, led by Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, to his country residence in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area.
Sule explained that the call for credible representation for the zone, alongside pressure from several stakeholders, has encouraged him to consider entering the race.
“With all the pressure coming from our leaders, and so I don’t want them to feel offended that I have not been responding, I promise them I will contest when the time comes,” he said.
He noted that he had earlier intended to back another aspirant but reconsidered after the same individual joined others urging him to run.
The governor added that he is still engaging in consultations with key stakeholders before taking a final decision, noting that traditional rulers and senior political figures from Nasarawa North have been mounting pressure on him to contest.
Sule will complete his tenure as governor after serving two consecutive four-year terms.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the cabinet’s loyalty to the governor.
“We will swim with you until we get to the touch line, and together we will shout hurray! We have come, we have seen, we have conquered,” he said.
